While I was working on the Human
nature series, I felt like doing more with the animals I was using.
So I decided to make portraits of them. This is the result. It gives
an idea of the variety of mammals and birds that live in Norway.
Although I like all animals, I find birds and mammals the most
interesting to draw and paint. I love the texture of their fur and
feathers, their lively eyes and the expression in their faces. They
also react differently to to humans than for example insects or fish.
I find that very fasinating. Some mammals feel like colleagues, or
sometimes even friends.
All paintings measure abaout 15x20 cm, and are made in gouache
and mixed media. |
